North Carolina State coach Jim Valvano withdrew his name fromconsideration for the head coaching job at UCLA, the Californiauniversity said Saturday.
"After meeting with the folks from UCLA and discussing thesituation with my family, it is my decision to withdraw my name fromconsideration from the position," Valvano said in a statement.Valvano announced his decision a day after he arrived in Los Angelesto discuss the job.
Walt Hazzard, who helped UCLA win its first NCAA title in 1964,was fired Wednesday, less than three weeks after completing hisfourth season with the Bruins.
