NSW: RTA announces new long-distance speed camera trial

SYDNEY, Feb 28 AAP - Motorists speeding over long distances would be targeted by a
new speed camera trial monitoring lengths of road rather than just one point, the NSW
Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) said today.

RTA CEO Paul Forward said the so-called "point-to-point" cameras would be placed on
three stretches of road in NSW from May, including the M4 in Sydney's west and known blackspots
on the Pacific Highway.

The cameras record a motorist's number plate as he or she passes, recording it again
