Qld: Man allegedly stole church bell 23 years ago - court

BRISBANE, April 30 AAP - A man is on trial in Brisbane accused of stealing a churchbell more than 23 years ago.

Kevin McKiernan has pleaded not guilty to stealing or receiving the bell from St Augustine'sAnglican Church in the riverside Brisbane suburb of Hamilton in 1978.

Crown prosecutor Peter Godsall told the Brisbane District Court today that up to 21witnesses were expected to give evidence over the alleged theft of the bell, which belongedto the Corporation of the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane.
