Qld: Beattie says he'll probably "roll over" on health funding
Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE believes he will probably be forced to sign an agreementon hospital funding with the federal government tomorrow.
He says the state may have no choice but to roll over and accept the Health Care Agreementor be stuck with huge penalties.
Mr BEATTIE and Health Minister WENDY EDMOND are making a last ditch stand for morefederal funding after the ACT signed the deal yesterday.
Mr BEATTIE says the penalties are so horrific he can't afford to lose another $9 millionout of the health system.
State and territory ministers will be meeting in Canberra tomorrow for the Councilof Australian Governments meeting, with the states arguing health should be top of theagenda.
The states have until August the 31st to accept a federal government deal to boosthealth funding by $10 billion to a total package of $42 billion.
