Johns Manville invests in Slovakian glass fibre plant. (Industry News).

The US-based glass fibre maker Johns Manville is to invest about $100 million in a glass fibre operation at its production plant in Trnava, Slovakia.

The new production line features a furnace with a capacity that can be rapidly altered to meet any changes in demand. It is due to begin operation in the fourth quarter of 2004.

The company, from Denver, Colorado, said Slovakia's central European location, its skilled labour force and low costs were factors influencing the choice of Trnava.

Set to enter the European Union in 2004, Slovakia has attracted many original equipment manufacturers in the automotive, industrial and infrastructure industries in recent years.
